Natural hair continues to be a topic of conversation in the media, from television shows to advertisements to commercials to newspapers. Recently, USA Today published an article on the popularity of natural hair. According to a report commissioned by Design Essentials, “The number of black women who say they do not use products to chemically relax or straighten their hair jumped to 36% in 2011, up from 26% “. Among the natural hair celebrities featured, are Esperanza Spalding, Yvette Nicole Brown, Wanda Sykes, Ursula Burns, Tracie Thomas, S. Epataha Merkerson, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jill Scott, Constance C.R. White, and Solange Knowles.
