Weaves, natural hair, and the news!

Did you catch that funny clip of the two co-anchors talking about weave on air? [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QtbP2N_X_k&w=560&h=315] If so, here’s the rebuttal, where the anchor reveals 1) that she wears a weave and 2)what her #naturalhair looks like. [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im-B5RYGLMo&w=560&h=315] What are your reactions to this video? Did he commit a fatal error? Is this rebuttal satisfying?

Listerine advertisement

Just when I was about to lose hope that there were no #naturalhair advertisements in the November 2011 issue of British Cosmo, I found one at the back of the magazine! An ad for Listerine Zero, prominently displaying a model with a tightly coiled ‘do. Go #teamnatural!

Atlanta Airport Advertisement

Check out what I found in the Atlanta airport the other day! It’s a TWA (tweeny weeny afro) in an advertisement. Go #teamnatural! I am still waiting for someone to explain to me why a fellow naturalista had her hair checked in the security line while I was there. I just didn’t get it…..her hair was probably 4 inches long …Read more »

This is the best collection of vintage natural hair commercials and advertisements I’ve come across. Afro Glitz Here’s one great example of the ads on Afro Glitz’s blog. It takes us back to a time when afros were really fashionable.

Mondays around the web – Black Girl With Long Hair

Today’s feature comes from the blog, Black Girl with Long Hair.
